If you’re hung up on what to get that special hacker in your life this holiday season, you might want to consider the Zoozen Access Pro Tool Kit, which provides a nice assorsement of useful tools to modders young and old. Billed as “every possible set of tools for both current generation and next generation handheld and video game consoles,” the PR peeps apparently haven’t gotten wind of the PS3 or the Wii yet (which go unmentioned in the press material), but you should be otherwise set for most modern console hacks — without going through all that nasty “work” of building your own tools. No word on price or availability just yet, but zoozen.com should be up soon.

Even though it may not be able to massage you, this pen from Japan, named the “SpyDisk” pen, is completely pimped out with a USB flash drive. It comes in 128, 256, and 512 MB storage denominations. What’s also cool about it is that it has an SD cart slot cleverly disguised on the pen cap’s clip.

It does of course also double as a regulation ballpoint pen. I’m not sure what color it is, but something tells me it might be black. This is the perfect little gadget for you to just carry around some of your more pertinent files that you may need in an emergency situation. If you’re like me and always carry a pen around, you’d always have access to said files without having to worry about carrying a flash drive everywhere.

The SkyDisk pen pricing tier goes something like this: Â¥2,800 ($24) for the 128MB version, Â¥3,880 ($33) for the 256MB version and Â¥4,800 ($41) for the 512MB version. That’s not too bad.

The Inka Pen is both a keychain and a pen, making it better than a normal pen and definitely way better than a normal keychain. We’ve all seen those space pens when we were kids that allowed us to write upside down. The novelty quickly wore out, and those pens were soon lost or misplaced—who needs to write upside-down anyway? Well the Inka Pen, with its pressurized ink cartridge, lets you write in below-zero temperatures, in the desert, or even when it’s wet. Really? When it’s wet? Wouldn’t the paper disintegrate before you’re finished writing down whatever it is you’re writing?

In any case, if anyone needs to be able to write anywhere, this is available now for $25. – Jason Chen

Too boring, you say? What if we handed you a stack of 50 DVDs and CDs and told you to rip the image, archive ‘em and, while you’re at it, take a picture of each label. Now you want a robot to lord over, don’t you? Lucky for you, our favorite Kansas hard drive maker and friend of forensics analysts everywhere, James Wiebe has come to your rescue with the WiebeTech CD/DVD Imager. So remember kids, this new bot may not be as fun to say as the robotic “welly wanger”, but it’s probably a bit more practical if you’re about to fire off a few hundred copies of your latest tape (on CD) and can front the $2399 one of these will set you back.

Wenger, the manufacturer of the classic Swiss Army Knife, has revealed a 9-inch long, 2-pound “knife” which carries 85 instruments, or: almost every tool that has ever been on a Swiss Army Knife, ever. The list includes seven different knives, a golf shoe spike wrench, a bike chain rivet setter, and a laser pointer with a 300ft range (but where’s the freakin’ USB flash drive?). Presumably this is so seasoned golfers can tune their bicycle’s rivets before heading off on a deer hunt / cycling trip armed with blinding lasers and an entire collection of 3-inch knives. An equivalent “indoor” do-it-all gadget would feature Apple’s entire iPod line-up, a SCSI to Parallel adapter and the collective consciousness of the Engadget staff in BBS form, contained in the form factor of a combination Bluetooth headset / wristwatch.

Swiss Beat is a removable USB flash-based 1GB music player that handles the WMA, WAV, and Ogg formats, has a built-in FM radio as well as a voice recorder that saves to mp3. It works with PCs and Macs, comes with earphones, a remote control, a belt clip and an arm strap for jogging. Oh, and the three most basic of Swiss Army Knife tools: a two inch blade, mini-scissors and a nail file. MSRP is supposed to hover around $250 but ThinkGeek’s selling it for $169.99.
