HP and Newton cozy up for branded MoGo Mouse

Posted on 13 November 2006 by admin

The MoGo MouseBT sure has gotten plenty of press love this year, and now it looks to be getting another big push from a big name: HP. The creatively named “HP Bluetooth PC Card Mouse” keeps the exact specs of the MoGo MouseBT — PC card slot stashing, Bluetooth connectivity, rechargeable battery, touch sensitive scroll-wheel — with the mere addition of a slapped-on HP logo and the relevant sales push. We haven’t spotted a pic of the HP version yet, but we’ll be sure to share it with you when we do.

Logitech’s Alto stand elevates your notebook

Posted on 05 November 2006 by admin

Looking to take your notebook to new heights? Aside from the overtly deliberate PUN that Logitech is forcing down our throats here, the Alto notebook stand ups the ante of prior renditions by including a full-sized keyboard, sleek(er) design, and an ability to hold notebooks “up to nine pounds.” The collapsible device can reportedly be setup in “less than 30 seconds,” and measures just 9.33- x 16.84- x 1.41-inches when folded over and not in use. The integrated keyboard touts a variety of “media controls” to handle volume, track, and macro functions, and it also offers a trio of non-powered USB ports for connecting low-power peripherals. Logitech expects to roll these $99 risers out in December for those residing in the UK, while Americans will have to wait until January.

Mice at KES 2006: Thin is in

Posted on 18 October 2006 by admin

As much as we love wrapping a hand around the sexy curves of our ergonomic Logitech mouse, the rather bulky input device isn’t always practical for the geek-on-the-go, which is why companies like Samsung have developed waifish little mice such as the model pictured above. On display at this year’s Korean Electronics Show, Sammy’s travel mouse measures in at only 8-millimeters thick, yet manages to pack in five buttons, a scroll wheel, and the increasingly-obligatory LED light show. Not only that, the little rodent is even able to swallow its own tail, so to speak, thanks to a winding mechanism that draws the USB cord almost completely inside its minuscule body. If for some reason this model is too thick for your tastes, a company called iCantek has taken a cue from the MoGo MouseBT and built its own PC card-sized device (pictured after the break), although this one unfolds a little differently and lacks its competitor’s wireless capabilities. And if you’re really looking to go small — small enough that it’s uncomfortable to maneuver — check out the LG FINGER mouse we featured earlier this year, which was recently taken off the market after it was discovered that LG was making them with real fingers.

The ultra-slim wireless keyboard is made out of a single sheet of black Plexiglass and features an iPod like scroll wheel, backlighting and Bluetooth ofcourse. The gorgeous black-beauty comes for an equally impressive price tag for a keyboard for $200. But, this ultra-sleek keyboard panel is just the right peripheral for your Mediacenter PC.

Ainex AKB-88 keyboard packs a 10-in-1 card reader

Posted on 01 October 2006 by admin

Given that we’ve already seen some rather strange memory card readers, it’s high time that a company came out with one that’s actually convenient to use. We’ve always thought that a card reader directly built-in to a keyboard would do the job nicely, no? Fortunately Ainex has used its engineering powers to read our minds, and has released the AKB-88, a new compact keyboard with four, count ‘em four, card slots on the far side of the keyboard, featuring all your favorite types, including CompactFlash, Memory Stick, SD and the oft-neglected SmartMedia. Sadly, this flashy little keyboard is Windows-only, even though we think it would compliment the MacBook nicely, given that it comes in both white and black. The AKB-88 was just made available on the company’s website for the ever elusive “open price,” but if these ‘boards ever surf across the Pacific, we’ll let you know.
