Latest MP4 wristwatch sports an FM transmitter, too

Posted on 12 November 2007 by admin

We’re all but convinced that nobody actually wears these video-playing watches out in public, but just in case there’s some otherworldly group out there that takes pride in adorning their wrists with timepieces that are utterly heinous, you’re in luck. This iteration sports a 1.8-inch 160 x 128 resolution OLED display, integrated media player that handles MP3, WMA and MP4 files, a built-in Li-ion, 4GB of internal memory, voice recording capability, USB 2.0 connectivity and an FM transmitter for good measure. All this can be yours for the above average price of $126, but if you have any respect for yourself whatsoever, you’ll glide right on past this one.

Fujitsu launches the SlimEdge Lifebook S6510

Posted on 12 November 2007 by admin

Fujitsu, known to lovingly produce a laptop from time to time, has once again stepped into the fray with a new offering in its Lifebook line. The company has just announced the Lifebook S6510 (in China, at least), and it’s somehow managed to squeeze a 14.1-inch display into the “SlimEdge” casing which would typically house a 13.3-inch system. Besides the medical-marvel that is the LED-backlight WXGA display, the laptop features a Core 2 Duo T7700 or T7500, the illustrious 965GM Express chipset, an Intel PRO / Wireless 4965AGN/3945BG WiFi card, Intel GMA X3100 GPU, 160GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM (upgradable to 4GB), and a DVD “Super Multi Burner.” We’re not sure these figures are accurate, but Engadget China has the T7500 model clocking in at a whopping 72,800 yuan, while the T7700 will run you 76,800 yuan, which is pretty steep for a laptop. Of course, if you really want one, you’ll probably have to hit up your local importer… or book a flight.

Update: So our main man Atticus from Engadget China has confirmed, the price is in Taiwanese dollars, thus making the US cost around $2,247 and $2,370 respectively.

EZfetch Wireless HD Digital Media Player

Posted on 12 November 2007 by admin

We certainly haven’t been starved for media streamers of late, and if you reckoned the feature-packed EZfetch Wireless HD Digital Media Player would be priced right out of your league, guess again. This multifaceted unit, which appeared just days ago on the FCC’s website, is now officially available to anyone interested — and for $249, no less. Yep, for the price of a (likely sold-out) Wii, users can pick up a snazzy streaming box that pulls in content from Nokia N-series mobiles, PCs, NAS drives and a slew of WiFi-enabled devices in order to light up your living room TV. Furthermore, the gizmo plays nice with more formats than you can shake a stick at, and it’s shipping now to those who simply can’t resist.

Toshiba’s 22-inch monitor touts insane 3,840 x 2,400 resolution (and price)

Posted on 12 November 2007 by admin

Ready for yet another 22-inch LCD? How ’bout if it was pumping 4 times as many pixels as just about every other monitor in its class? We’re talking 3,840 x 2,400 pixels for a WQUXGA display. Unfortunately, the specs fall off quickly (but not too quickly) from there: 235cd/m2 brightness, 300:1 contrast, and a weak-sauce 120-degree top/bottom and 100-degree left/right viewing angle. Of course you’ll need a dedicated (dual-link, presumably) PCI graphics card to drive that resolution over the monitor’s single DVI input. Shipping in Japan before summer for an anticipated Â¥2,079,000. Right, a staggering $17,500 or about 50 of Dell’s 22-inchers.

P.S. Sorry, no picture, that’s just a generic 22-incher to the right.

Update: Toshiba will sell you a PCI graphics card for an additional ¥312,000 ($2,783). How nice.

Yashica resurfaces with a trio of new compact cameras

Posted on 11 November 2007 by admin

We haven’t heard much from Yashica since it was snapped up by Kyocera way back when, but it looks like that’s about to change, as Crave recently spotted three new digital cameras sporting the familiar brand at the Imaging Expo in Singapore. Leading the pack is the 14-megapixel AV1400-HD model, although there doesn’t appear to be any more details on it than what you see on the face of the camera above (it will apparently be released by the end of the year though). Specs are a bit more plentiful for the now available EZ8032 and EZ7033 models, however, with the former boasting 8.2 megapixels, a 2.5-inch LCD, and thickness of 22 mm, and the latter packing a still decent 7.2 megapixels, along with a 3-inch screen, a 3x optical zoom, and an even slimmer thickness of just 18.5 mm. There’s still no word on a possible release ’round there parts though, so die-hard Yashica fans may have to find a way to get one from Singapore.

Dell brings the 24-inch E248WFP

Posted on 11 November 2007 by admin

Dell’s latest 24-incher, the E248WFP, got a little overshadowed when it was released in Japan next to the webcam-sporting SP2208WFP, but now that it’s coming Stateside we’re ready to love it just as much. The lowest-priced Dell 24-inch display, the E248WFP features a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 5ms refresh rate for just $469. You’re not getting a lot of frills for that number, of course, with inputs limited to just DVI-D with HDCP and VGA, no speakers, and and no USB ports, but as a pure screen it’s a pretty slammin’ deal.

Samsung finally ships 24-inch SyncMaster 245T LCD monitor

Posted on 11 November 2007 by admin

We’ve got all ideas that folks fully expecting Samsung’s SyncMaster 245T to ship way back in March have moved on and purchased another monitor by now, but for the loyal few that are still clinging to a sliver of hope that this thing isn’t vaporware, we’ve got outstanding news. Some ten months (to the day, actually) after its unveiling, this 24-incher is finally ready to rock, and it’ll be coming to those still interested with a 1,920 x 1,200 resolution PVA panel, 1,500:1 contrast ratio, six-millisecond response time, Motion Picture Acceleration (MPA) backlight scanning technology, 178-degree viewing angles and a four-port USB 2.0 hub for good measure. As for the port selection, you’ll find HDMI, S-Video, component, DVI and VGA connectors, and with any luck, you can score one now for $799.99.
