Logitech’s VX Nano: the VX Revolution’s little brother

Posted on 23 July 2007 by admin

So you liked Logitech’s MX and VX Revolution mousers, did ya? Then check the VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse with that crazy-small 2.4GHz USB receiver for laptop users. The VX Nano features a mini, hyper-fast scrolling MicroGear scroll wheel along with forward and back buttons mapped to your browser, five programmable buttons, and is said to run for up to 6 months of a pair of AAA batteries. All yours for $70 worldwide in late August. Notebooks.com got themselves some sit-down time with the mouse with the video to prove it.

Buffalo intros the 56GB SHD-UH external SSD

Posted on 23 July 2007 by admin

Japanese peripheral manufacturer Buffalo has cooked up a storage option you might want to crack open your wallet for: a whopping 56GB SSD in a thin, external form factor that’s just shy of credit card-size. Of course, it’s not nearly the mind-blowing capacity of PQI’s monster, but for an external SSD, they don’t get much bigger. Sure, it’s priced at Â¥94,980 (around $783), which isn’t exactly cheap, but if this trend continues these prices are bound to drop — and just think of the possibilities of never having to hear a drive mechanism failing again. 8GB, 16GB, and 24GB models available late July, but the 56GB variation hasn’t been given a release date yet.

Sony 24-inch VGP-D24WD1 monitor

Posted on 23 July 2007 by admin

VAIO users wanting to keep things coordinated now have a new option to consider, with Sony recently introducing its 24-inch VGP-D24WD1 widescreen monitor, apparently designed specifically to go along with their Type R desktops. From the looks of it this one hits all the right spec marks, boasting a 1920 x 1200 resolution, 92% NTSC color purity, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 400cd/m2 brightness, and a 6 ms response time, along with a pair of HDCP-compliant DVI ports and one VGA port. Look for this one to be available in Japan “soon” for Â¥129,000 (or roughly $1,060).
