In another foray into the never-ending LCD spec bump war, ViewSonic just threw down 3 new widescreens of the LCD variety for your desktop enjoyment. There’s plenty to love here, not least of which is price: the 19, 20 and 22-inchers go for $199, $349 and $399 respectively. The specs ain’t too shabby either, with 5ms response times all round, and 1680 x 1050 resolutions in the larger displays, with a 1440 x 900 19-incher holding up the low end. The 22 and 19-inch displays, VX2235wm and VX1935wm, have 700:1 contrast ratios, while the 20-inch VX2035wm hits 800:1. The two smaller displays sport 300 nits of brightness, while the larger one manages 280 nits, and all the displays are privy to stereo speakers, newly designed thin bezels, and integrated power supplies. Not bad at all for the price, and while we’re not exactly sure when these go on sale, we’re guessing you can nab one soon.

Look, we’re sorry, but we just don’t get this whole built-in speaker fad. All that bulk, for what? It’s not like anybody wants to hear what we’re listening to anyways, and the speaker “fidelity” can hardly be termed thus. But if we were to rock such a superfluous speaker, we might give this XNINE MMP X-500 player a shot. The 1GB Korean DAP sports a decent looking 2.2-inch screen, microSD expansion, FM radio, voice recording, video playback and that silly ol’ speaker — without putting on too terribly much bulk in the process (13.2mm thick to be exact, 0.52-inches). We’re also fairly impressed with the codec support on this little number, including AVI, DivX, XviD, MPEG, WMV, WMA, ASF and MP3. XNINE even packed in a few games for kicks. No word on price, and we’re not expecting to see this thing in the States anytime soon, but at least we wouldn’t mind seeing it on this side of Pacific.

RegHardware reviews Aigo’s F029 PMP watch, which sports a 160 x 128 OLED display, USB 2.o connectivity, SRS 3D WOW sound enhancement, an e-book reader, seven preset EQ modes, and 2.5-hours (video) / 4.5-hours (audio) playback. Here’s the bottom line:
The screen’s too small for watching movies for extensive periods of time, and the watch’s storage capacity may not run to longer movies, either. But it’s a fun way to watch music videos, and it’s a decent music player into the bargain. The F029 is a gimmick, pure and simple, but it’s priced to make a perfect, fun Christmas prezzie for the youngster in your life. After a techie stocking-filler? Look no further

At $2,530, Toshiba 47-inch Regza 47WLT66 offers full-HD 1920 x 1080 native resolution, 800:1 contrast ratio, 550cd/m2 brightness, dual HDMI inputs, a built-in digital TV tuner, and PC-input. Here’s the verdict:
Most Toshiba LCD TVs are pretty easy to recommend unreservedly. But with the 47WLT66 the situation is a little less straightforward. For while it delivers some of the benefits we’ve come to expect of a full HD TV at a strikingly affordable price, its black levels make it more of a ‘one to audition’ product than a definite ‘buy this and you won’t be disappointed’…

Nokialist recently got their hands on a pre-production N95 and provided us with their first impressions. Just to recap, it features a 2.6-inch QVGA display, 5.0-megapixel camera, 150MB built-in memory, microSD card slot, GPS, 802.11g Wi-Fi, HSDPA, ATI 3D graphics chip, dedicated music keys, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Available Q1 2007, priced at or around $701USD. Here’s the bottom line:
Although we think there are some things that would make the N95 even better, such as the joystick, its current offering is really great. We’re not going to ‘rate’ it based on this early beta unit, but if we were going to do that, we don’t think it would score anything less than 95%. Just imagine how the final product would be rated

It’s not like we were complaining the first time around, but iubi has just busted at a minor refresh of its Blue PMP over in Korea, and there’s even more to love. The main enhancements are the fancy new DMB receiver, a 60GB HDD (up from 30GB) and a price drop to roughly $433. The player face did lose its fancy little Bluetooth logo, so that connectivity might be gone, but the other fancy stuff like a 480 x 272 4.3-inch display, and ridiculously comprehensive codec support really makes up for it. Apparently the player is available now in Korea, and while the DMB function means we don’t have much of a shot at seeing this one over here, that’s not going to stop us from drooling from afar.
