Linksys introduces CIT310 DECT phone with Yahoo! inside

Posted on 11 November 2006 by admin

Nothing gets our heart pumping quite like a new VOIP handset, and when it’s a dual-function model that can connect to a landline too, well, we sometimes have trouble containing our excitement. The latest system in a seemingly endless parade of similar products comes from Linksys, whose CIT310 supports Yahoo! Messenger with Voice, and looks a lot snazzier than some of the other phones we’ve seen from this company. Based on the DECT standard, the CIT310 hooks up to your PC’s USB port and your regular telephone line, allowing you to make and receive both Yahoo! and POTS calls anywhere within range of the base unit. Additional features include zip code-based business searches directly from the handset’s small color screen (including one click calling) and local weather info in case your weather station, TV, PC, thermometer, and newspaper all happen to crash simultaneously. This model will available for an even $100 exclusively through Amazon until sometime in January, so you should be able to pick one up in a bricks-and-mortar store right after you’ve finished returning all those other VOIP devices you’re bound to receive this holiday season.

Kohjinsha SA1F00A ultra-portable reviewed

Posted on 11 November 2006 by admin

The fine folks at Impress’ PC Watch recently got a chance to check out Kohjinsha’s attention-grabbing SA1F00A ultra-portable laptop to see how it stacks up to the competition (UMPC and otherwise), finding the pros and cons to mostly break down as you’d expect. While some of the finer points are lost in translation, they do seem to have dug the unit’s small size and smart design, not to mention the UMPC-beating price point. On the downside, while the 500MHz AMD Geode LX800 processor helped to keep the battery life in check (about five hours of juice), it is somewhat underpowered compared to other, pricer devices — although it should still be more than adequate for most common tasks. The small size also means a compromise on screen real estate, with the 7-inch display pumping out a scrolleriffic 800 x 480 resolution, though we suspect that’s a price most will be willing to pay.

$5,705 LCD TV-Equipped Luxury Tub

Posted on 11 November 2006 by admin

For around $5705, “The Cosmo” luxury tub boasts 7 Hydro massage jets; 9 bubble jets; 6 back massage jets, a built-in 8.5-inch LCD TV, and video inputs for connecting your DVD player. Product page here.

What, your bathtub doesn’t have a TV built into it? Shame. Keeping one tied up to the radiator above the tub is dangerous, my friend, and you’d be better off with a screen designed to take all the frantic splashing from when you play with your tugboat
