Transcend announces 4GB and 8GB SDHC cards

Posted on 09 October 2006 by admin

Sure, it’s not the first first 8GB SDHC card, but Transcend’s is the, uh, second. Really, that’s about all we can tell you about this class 2 card which, like their 4GB SDHC card also announced, means you’ll get a guaranteed minimum data transfer rate of just 2MB/sec compared to Pretec’s 8GB SDHC which touts access speeds up to 20MB/sec. Sorry no ship date or pricing information at this time but the Pretec is shipping this quarter for $299 if that’s any consolation.

Canon PowerShot SD900 Reviewed

Posted on 09 October 2006 by admin

CNet recently got their hands on the 10-megapixel Canon PowerShot SD900, which features a 3x optical zoom lens, an SD memory card slot, DIGIC III image processor, built-in digital tele converter, and Face Detection technology. Here’s the verdict:

A solid, handy, compact camera, the Canon PowerShot SD900 nevertheless lacks some useful features offered by the similarly priced SD800 IS. Unless you absolutely need the extra pixels–for, say, cropping tightly on a portion of a photo or printing to larger than 8×10–you’re probably better off with the faster, stabilized SD800 IS
