Like its predecessor, the Toshiba Satellite R25 crams all the amenities of a standard notebook into Tablet form. It sports an Intel Core Duo T2500 (1.6-GHz) processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 100GB SATA HDD, DVD Super-Multi drive, and a 14.1-inch TruBright WXGA+ display. Here’s the bottom line:
If you were looking for a notebook and thought about the R25 for the added bonus of tablet functionality, skip it. However if you are an artist looking for a Tablet PC with the main purpose of drawing and writing on the screen the R25 is an option to consider, if only for the lack of tablet selection in general and at that price range in particular

Hans G. Lehmann managed to snap a few pictures of the stunning Aston Marin DBRS9. Couple more after the jump.
The “RS†variant will have a wider track, lower ground clearance, and bold scoops and air intakes up front. According to rumours, the V12 engine’s performance was boosted from 450 hp to more than 500 hp for the DBRS 9.

Korean start-up D2E Robotics looks to be aiming to take down WowWee‘s RoboSapien (ED-209-style) with its upcoming programmable robot, the decidedly less-catchily-named D2V-ZN. Set to retail for close to $750 US when it launches this October, the one-foot-tall programmable mech comes loaded with a built-in camera and will recognize voice commands.. While it’s certainly a bit pricey to start with, the company says the price should come down to a more reasonable 300,000 Won, or just over $300US, once/if the robot starts selling in large quantities (emphasis on if). Either way, we’re guessing it’s going to be a Korea-only thing for a while yet, meaning you’ll still have to pay quite a premium to actually get your mitts on one. Unless you’re Omni Consumer Products, in which case you probably already own thousands.

You’d think that we would have heard of a company that’s made (or perhaps rebadged) literally hundreds of DAPs and PMPs since 2004, but until we came across the swivel-screen M790, we’d never caught wind of a Chinese manufacturer called Newman. Most of its products are simply cookie-cutter devices that resemble so many of the other products we’ve featured on these pages, but the M790′s unique design and large-ish 2.5-inch screen convinced us to give it another look. As with many foreign products of its ilk, this DAP’s exact specs are a little hard to come by, but we do know that it sports a QVGA resolution, built-in speakers, a camera of some undetermined pixel count (machine translation pegs it as a 20 megapixel shooter, but frankly we’re a bit suspect), and support for MP3, WMA, JPEG, and unspecified video files. Storage on this one is a paltry 512MB (expandable through the SD / MMC slot), but that’s just as well, as it’ll take a pretty long time to load up even that amount of data over the sluggish USB 1.1 connection. Also along for the ride are your typical assortment of dictionaries, games, voice recording, audio line-in, and the all important timekeeping functionality. It seems like you can pick up the M790 sometime this month (maybe even right now!), but it’s obviously not available in the US, so factor in the cost of a plane ticket to China along with however many yuan this happens to be retailing for.

Although Sony’s new colorful notebook lineup lacks the class demonstrated on the wooden laptop we’ve seen, the personalized approach is in full effect with the FJ290 series. The laptop comes with one of five different lids — Pink Feather, Orange Flower, Green Flower, Orange Burst, and Blue Burst — reportedly designed to “reflect an individual’s personality.” Sony also allows you to engrave up to two lines of text just above the keyboard on the inner casing, just in case you really want to destroy any and all hope for resale. While we know the bright colors are the real draw here, the FJ290 rocks a modest 14.1-inch WXGA display, Intel Pentium Celeron (or M) processor, 512MB of RAM, 40GB hard drive, DVD+R dual-layer burner, built-in webcam, and 802.11b/g, but since the specs are as customizable as the paintjob, you can mix and match the innards to fit your needs (and budget). The oh-so-vivid base configurations are available now for around $1,449.
