Sony Ericsson SE123?

Posted on 18 April 2006 by admin

Early morning in the Monday pconline.com.cn posted an unannounced sony ericsson model named SE123

From the photos the model name SE123 is printed at the front, the naming convention is not belong to any existing series. This could be a engineering prototype and might not even available in the market. The 1.3 megapixel camera is on the front clamshell, including a self portrait mirror. The front LCD screen should be monochrome, we think that this model is going for mid-range camera phone users. More SE123 information will be posted when available.

Posted on 18 April 2006 by admin

Just when you were feeling pretty smug with your new super-slim ultra-portable laptop, Toshiba Matsushita Display comes along and introduces the world’s thinnest 12-inch LCD panel, which will be seen on notebooks much hotter than yours in a few months. Ranging from 2.9- to 4.5-millimeters thick, the new LED-backlit TFT display manages a 1280 x 800 WXGA resolution and 300cd/m2 brightness, packed into a light 183-gram design. TMD, a joint venture between two Japanese electronics giants, says that the display is already in production, although there is no mention of any specific products that will see the new tech, nor any info on when these presumed products would hit stores.

VELscope uses light to detect oral cancers

Posted on 18 April 2006 by admin

We’re not too fond of trips to the dentist, for all the obvious reasons (plus the fact that we still can’t get the image of Steve Martin as the sadistic tooth-ripper in “Little Shop of Horrors” out of our head). But if more tools like the VELscope come onto the market, we may just start checking in with the DDS more frequently. The device, developed by LED Dental in Vancouver, uses fluorescent light that hones in on tissues that glow when abnormal cells show up. That can give the dentist an edge in fighting cancers early on, before they progress too far. The device isn’t on the market yet, but is expected to sell for about $5,000 when it’s released. Now if they can just find a way to replace those drills with a similar tool, we’re all set.
