Beosound 2 MP3 player

Posted on 24 March 2006 by admin

If you have a Bang & Olufsen set at home, then it is safe to assume there are at least 7 digits in your bank balance. The screenless BeoSound 2 MP3 player is just the gadget for you. It comes with a custom leather Louis Vuitton case to protect its silver exterior. Your music is transported on a SD card with a maximum capacity of 512MB. Battery life is rated at 10 hours for continuous playback. It looks (and is) out of reach for the working classes, but at least a $100 MP3 player comes with an FM tuner and 1GB memory.

ATI’s 1GB FireGL V7350

Posted on 24 March 2006 by admin

The battle between ATI and nVidia just stepped up a notch with the introduction of the ATI FireGL V7350 GPU. The V7350’s claim to fame is that it is the first GPU to boast a full 1GB of memory. Meant for workstations, the card features ATI’s Avivo video and display technology, which increases the color depth to 10-bit and allows for a color palette of over a billion colors. Born of the 90nm design process, the V7350 also has a 512-bit ring bus speed. How much would you pay for such a card? Well, $1999 is the price that Alienware et al. are looking for. Looks like it’s time to take a second mortgage.

Mago Luxury Smart Phone

Posted on 24 March 2006 by admin

Russian is not one of the languages we speak at Gizmodo and so we can’t confirm whether the Mago Luxury Smartphone you see above has ever gone into production or if it ever will (we’re guessing not), but damn, it sure is pretty, innit?

Not that specs really matter in this case, but here are some to read anyway while you fold your tongue back into your mouth:

  • GSM/GPRS, 850/900/1800/1900MHz
  • Class 2 Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b
  • Windows Mobile 2005
  • 2.8” low temperature poly-silicon TFT LCD 262,000 colors
  • non-scratchable touch screen
  • USB 2.0
  • SD/MMC card slot

Update: Thanks to readers Leo and Leon, who both wrote in immediately to tell us the Russian page says Mago will be out in mid-2006 and cost a whopping €3000. Anyone know if Vertu’s still in business?

Pocket Ashtray

Posted on 24 March 2006 by admin

We’re not sure we actually know anyone who would use Chillichilly’s Pocket Ashtray, but life in cities would be just that little bit better if smokers paid more attention to where they toss their nasty cigarette butts. No hatin’, just telling it like it is.
