FineDrive M700D GPS and T-DMB receiver

Posted on 29 December 2005 by admin

Â

It’s not the first GPS and T-DMB receiver combo but this Fine Digital FineDrive-M700D is the first we’ve seen with a nice big 7-inch WQVGA (480 x 234) LCD touchscreen in a 16:9 aspect ratio. The M700D features an integrated MP3 player with automatic audio adjustment for receipt of navigation instructions, SD memory expansion, the ability to receive real-time traffic information via USB connected cellphone, and an AV-in jack allowing you to connect pretty much any portable video device including your S-DMB receiver for serious TV junkies. Ok, that big screen is nice and all but does anyone else see a problem with mounting a big TV playin’ obstruction to the windshield of 3000-pound speeding slab-o-steel!? And how much do you really trust a suction-cup windshield mount for your new $649-equiv receiver anyway?

Minox DMP-2 media player and MPEG-4 recorder

Posted on 29 December 2005 by admin

Minox is best known for their quality cameras, and uniquely for those mini espionage shooters immortalized by WWII spies. So it feels a bit odd to tell you about yet another stretch for them into the media player market. First, they brought us the DMP-1 “image-player”, now they announce the DMP-2 personal media player. Sure, they pack in a superb 2.5-inch 960 x 240 pixel display capable of 262K colors in a PMP capable of both MPEG-4 playback and recording at up to 640 x 480 pixels. That’s right, recording, but it’s tough to get overly excited since you’ll be limited to either 128MB of internal memory or up to 2GB via SD expansion…which you must purchase separately. If you’re still with us, this PMP also sports a couple of flip-out mouse-ear speakers for use in a pinch, TV-out, AV-in, MP3 and WMA playback support, FM tuner with recorder functionality, and about 3 hours of video playback on battery which is about as good as it gets in a smaller package than both the current iPod and Zen Vision:M. No details on pricing or availability yet.

KTF-T3000 3G cellphone with automatic Motion Eye

Posted on 29 December 2005 by admin

We’ve seen Motion Eye video cameras before in devices like Sony’s Vaio notebooks and even the Sony Ericsson Z800 3G UMTS cellphone. Now, it looks like they’ve automated the 1.3 megapixel camera’s movement and even enabled some automatic tracking capabilities for KTF Technologies’ new T3000 3G slider for Korea. That makes video conferencing on the 1.8-inch QCIF LCD a snap while the phone is cradled in the car or charging on the desktop. Oh, and did we mention it also features an MP3 player, a FAT16 file system for portable file storage, PictBridge support, and what may possibly be the most unfortunate Babelfish mis-translation of all time: a “mammary gland” remote control.
