At just 1 KG, the Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook P1510 convertible manages to squeeze in an 8.9-inch widescreen, 1.2 GHz processor, 60 GB hard drive, 1 GB of RAM, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
Clocking in at an even smaller size than its miniscule LifeBook P7010, Fujitsu Siemens has introduced the LifeBook P1510, weighing in at an airy 1 KG. A convertible tablet, the P1510 offers a wide set of features despite its miniscule form factor, including an 8.9-inch widescreen display along with a range of wired and wireless connectivity options.
Powered by Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 running atop an Intel Pentium M 753 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and a 915GMS chipset, the LifeBook P1510 supports from 512 MB to 1 GB of 400 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Hard drives are available in sizes of either 30 or 60 GB, both of which spin at 4,200 RPM, rely on IDE for connectivity and are shock-mounted.
The display of the P1510 is of the widescreen variety, offering a WSVGA resolution of 1,024 x 600 pixels and powered by up to 128 MB of shared memory courtesy of the integrated Intel chipset. When powering a monitor through the VGA out port of the tablet, the maximum resolution supported is 1280 x 1024 pixels.
In the department of connectivity, the P1510 offers up dual USB 2.0 ports along with 10/100 Ethernet, a 56K V.92 modem and VGA out, as well as dual expansion slots for SD/MMC and CompactFlash Type II cards. For wireless connectivity, tri-mode Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and Bluetooth 1.2 are supported; Infrared is nowhere to be found.
Skipping the touch pad due to the limited amount of real estate, the P1510 is instead equipped with dual mouse buttons, a scroll wheel and a touch stick. Also on the unusual side, the P1510 relies on passive digitizer technology, which negates the need for a dedicated stylus to operate the touch-sensitive display; a fingertip will do just as well for this purpose as it will for the tablet’s integrated biometric fingerprint reader.
Measuring in at 232 x 167 x 37 mm, the Fujitsu LifeBook P1510 claims a battery life of up to 4 hours from its standard, 3-cell Lithium Ion battery and will be available throughout Europe in November, starting at $2,500 EUR.
